We opted for non-nano zinc oxide (our mineral filter of choice) because it is considered reef-friendly and safe for the body, as it’s large enough to prevent absorption into the bloodstream and it isn't water-soluble, so it likely settles naturally on the ocean floor. Chemical sunscreens, on the other hand, can be small enough to enter the bloodstream and cause adverse reactions.
